About EVM UK & Ireland:
We are a specialist sales and aftersales agent for some of Europe’s most trusted minibus and midi coach brands, including EVM, Altas, Ferqui, Indcar, Erener and AOS. With deep engineering knowledge, a future-focused mindset, and an unrivalled approach to service, we help public and private sector operators unlock the full potential of their fleets.
Having experienced significant growth, EVM UK is introducing the critical stand-alone role of HR Manager. This position will establish and embed our dedicated in-house HR function, supporting our expanding operations across both the UK and the Republic of Ireland, and ensuring our people practices directly drive our business ambition and ongoing success.
The Role:
The HR Manager will take complete ownership of the HR function in a pivotal, stand-alone capacity. This is an operational, hands-on, and strategically focused role responsible for managing the entire employee lifecycle across both the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
The HR Manager will lead the HR function, set HR priorities, and develop people strategies that support EVM UK’s overarching commercial goals. Acting as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, directors, and operational managers, the postholder will deliver practical HR advice, establish compliant frameworks, oversee complex employee relations, and foster a high-performance organisational culture.
As EVM UK continues to expand, this role provides the runway to scale the People function, translate strategic annual HR objectives into measurable business impacts, and build and lead an in-house HR team over time.
The HR Manager will be supported and mentored by an HR consultant who has been working with EVM for a year. This will provide continuity and guidance as the postholder takes ownership of the in-house HR function.
Key Responsibilities:
HR Strategy and Operational Leadership
- Support the leadership team in translating the business vision into strategic goals and align HR priorities and initiatives to support their delivery.
- Operate effectively as a stand-alone HR professional, driving tactical execution and long-term planning with commercial acumen.
- Maintain structured HR policies and procedures and align with business needs across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.
- Identify organisational development opportunities, leading change programmes, restructuring initiatives, and continuous people improvement projects.
- Plan for business growth by mapping out future HR capability, laying the groundwork to recruit, mentor, and manage an internal HR team (including HR Advisors and Administrators) as EVM expands.
- Work with the company’s HR consultant, drawing on their knowledge of the business, to support a smooth transition into the role and the delivery of annual HR strategic goals.
Full Employee Lifecycle and Operational HR Management
- Manage the end-to-end employee lifecycle from attraction, onboarding, probation, and ongoing development through to offboarding and exit.
- Drive workforce planning and talent acquisition strategies, partnering with hiring managers to attract top-tier talent across technical, commercial, and operational disciplines.
- Establish and oversee structured performance management frameworks, appraisal processes, and objective-setting systems that encourage high productivity and accountability.
- Lead employee engagement, retention, and wellbeing initiatives to build an inclusive, motivated, and results-driven working environment.
- Maintain complete oversight of HR documentation, contracts of employment, variation letters, and employee data management.
HR Advice, Leadership Support and Employee Relations
- Serve as the dedicated advisor to the CEO and Leadership Team, and line managers on all people-related matters, employment relations, and structural changes.
- Provide sound, commercial, and solutions-focused advice on disciplinary procedures, grievances, dispute resolution, capability reviews, and absence management.
- Proactively coach and upskill line managers to handle people management challenges with confidence, consistency, and fairness.
- Champion and embed EVM UK’s core values, reinforcing high standards of conduct, employee engagement, and accountability across all business touchpoints.
Legal Compliance and Risk Management
- Ensure robust compliance with statutory requirements, employment law, and codes of practice across both UK and Republic of Ireland jurisdictions.
- Mitigate commercial and legal exposure by actively managing employee relations risks and staying abreast of legislative changes in both territories.
- Coordinate closely with internal governance, operations, and external advisors to ensure Health & Safety, regulatory, and workplace standards are consistently met.
- Monitor HR metrics, absence patterns, turnover rates, and operational people data to provide clear reports and recommendations to executive stakeholders.
The HR Manager requires a comprehensive combination of operational expertise, strategic vision, and employment law capability to establish and run a stand-alone department.
Education & Professional Accreditations
