EVM UK & Ireland’s Chief Operating Officer, Peter Flynn, handed over the EVM wheelchair-accessible vehicle earlier this month.
The customised EVM-built minibus will be used to provide essential transport for the children and young people at their national specialist centre in Tadworth, Surrey.
This minibus is built on a Mercedes-Benz chassis and features a host of additional features to offer seamless, comfortable travel for all the children and staff. Along with the standard comfort features such as air conditioning, saloon speakers, and privacy glazing, there is a bespoke curtain midway through the vehicle. The vehicle has 9 seats and an underfloor wheelchair lift, so it is safe, quick, easy and comfortable for children to board/alight the vehicle.
EVM ensured that the vehicle was road-ready before delivering and assisted with ensuring that The Children’s Trust’s striking livery was applied to the vehicle.
The Children’s Trust is a residential rehabilitation centre for children with brain injury. It’s the largest service of its kind in the UK. The centre supports families with intensive rehabilitation therapy, adapting to the child’s newly acquired disability and transition home.
The new vehicle was made possible thanks to a generous legacy gift left by Jim Bush, a long-term volunteer driver with The Children’s Trust. The charity has over 200 volunteers, of which 12 are drivers who make up to 120 trips per month for appointments, returning home and days out.

Its accessibility will make a vital difference, allowing us to transport children to and from hospital appointments safely and comfortably. It also gives families the chance to enjoy outings together and spend valuable time in the community – opportunities that may not have been possible before.
