EVM UK Raises almost £3k for local charity Crawley Open House

The team at EVM recently stepped away from their desks and into the great outdoors, taking on the formidable Surrey Three Peaks Challenge — a demanding trek covering over 16 miles of varied terrain, steep climbs, and breathtaking countryside views — all in support of a meaningful cause.

Organised by Back On Track, the challenge brought together individuals and teams committed not only to testing their limits but also to raising vital funds for charity. The event supports Crawley Open House, an organisation dedicated to helping those facing homelessness, unemployment, and social exclusion to rebuild their lives.

For the EVM.UK team, the day was about more than just completing the miles. It was an opportunity to build camaraderie, push personal limits, and support one another through every step of the journey. From the very first incline to the final stretch, encouragement and teamwork played a vital role in keeping spirits high.

“There were certainly some really challenging climbs” says Marketing Manager, Alex O’Loughlin, “our final trek was to the top of Holmbury Hill and with very tired legs we leant on each other for support and encouragement. It was absolutely worth the reward at the top – coffee and ice cream.”

Despite the physical demands, the group maintained a strong pace, tackling each peak — Box Hill, Leith Hill, and Holmbury Hill — with determination. The climbs were tough, particularly as fatigue began to set in, but the shared goal of completing the challenge and raising funds for a worthy cause kept everyone moving forward.

Making a Difference

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, the EVM.UK team raised £2,790 for Crawley Open House. Every step taken across the 16-mile route contributed to helping provide accommodation, support, and opportunities for individuals in need.

Knowing that their efforts would make a real difference gave the team an extra boost of motivation throughout the day, turning a physical challenge into something far more meaningful.

The success of the challenge has inspired the team to consider future fundraising and team-building adventures as CEO Danny McGee explains:

“It’s great to be able to promote wellbeing while supporting important causes. We were very pleased with our time, finishing 90 minutes quicker than we had anticipated. We were very impressed with the trek organisers ‘back on track’ and they recommended a walking challenge in the Yorkshire Dales – but with a busy year ahead that will definitely need to be something for next year.”

Thank you so much to your team for doing the Surrey Three Peaks and raising £2,790 from your wonderful sponsors. What a phenomenal amount to raise, and we are blown away by your loyalty to us and our work even though you’ve moved away. I hope you know how much we appreciate you all and all you do for us in lots of different ways.
