This summer, Centurion Travel has expanded beyond its regular coach services to introduce the new 101 bus service around Bristol. With a family history in the bus and coach industry dating back 101 years, the new route marks both a new opportunity and a fitting continuation of a long-standing transport legacy.
About the company
Centurion operates a mixed fleet of coaches, minibuses and cars, ranging from 8 to 80 seats, with a host of PSVAR-equipped, accessible vehicles. They provide a wide range of travel services, from school transport to corporate travel and private hire.
Seeing an opportunity to restore a connection previously lost in their local transport network, Centurion Travel has worked with Abus – an independent bus company providing local bus services across WECA and a close friend of the company – to deliver a high-quality, reliable service.
This route is a big deal, as it comes from new funding from the Department of Transport to improve bus networks nationwide. By pure coincidence, the new route number complements their 101st anniversary.
About the Vehicle
Having already chosen EVM for a 19-seater Custom Build with wheelchair access, we were thrilled to work together again and fulfil their need for a rural bus service vehicle; enter the Cityline.
The Cityline is a popular model with its class-leading, low-floor design and ground clearance. The interior of the Cityline is light and airy, fitted with large panoramic windows and comfortable passenger seats with three-point seatbelts giving passengers a secure vantage point on scenic journeys. Capable of transporting 25 passengers at a time with a combination of seats, standing space and room for a wheelchair user. Finished with a wheelchair ramp, grab rails throughout, stop bell buttons, screens and more, designed with passenger comfort, accessibility and practicality in mind.
This order saw the purchase of two Citylines dedicated to the 101 service – finished in the West livery – with a third on the way to ensure the service is always running in the event of any emergency.
Centurion Travel started trading in 1989; however, the family have been in the bus and coach business since 1925, making the 101 route number even more special – 101 years of family heritage and new opportunities celebrated with fleet expansion and growth. As Centurion Travel begins this new chapter with the 101 service, the three new Citylines represent more than a fleet expansion — they mark the continuation of a family transport legacy spanning more than a century.
Thank you to Centurion Travel for choosing EVM once again. We look forward to seeing the Citylines serving passengers across Bristol!
